If you have lived in your current home for 10, 20, 30 years, or more, and you’ve never replaced your windows, it’s probably time that you did.
They might be ruining the appearance of the house or letting it down in terms of security and thermal efficiency.
As soon as any of these types of issues arise, replacement windows are an absolute necessity.
But there will be a lot of money at stake when buying new windows, so before you go out and get some, read County’s advice on how they should be purchased:
Window style
What may have originally attracted to your home is its character. You don’t want to lose that. So, it’s important you find a replacement window style that suits it.
You can find almost every window style at County, including casement windows (a real classic window design), bay and bow windows (often present at period properties), and tilt and turn windows (their unique opening makes cleaning and ventilation really simple).
As well as the right window style, you also want windows with the functionality you prefer.
Window material
Most window suppliers provide their window designs in just UPVC and aluminium, But, at County, you can also have timber windows, giving you extra choice.
UPVC is incredibly affordable and ridiculously easy to maintain as the material is resistant to rotting or corrosion. Aluminium, on the other hand, is also weatherproof and provides amazingly slim sightlines, meaning you get lots of glass in the window.
As for our timber windows, they don’t warp like wood, and they offer a far greater level of thermal efficiency.
Window installer
Unless you’ve had work done on your home before, you may not know which installation company to appoint. Use the internet and referrals for the answer to that.
A quick Google search will enable you to find installers who fit in your area and also uncover any reviews that they have so that you can see what other customers have to say about them.
For the best installers in the industry, look out for a company with the FENSA accreditation, like County.
