We have experienced a noticeable increase in enquiries for our home extensions in recent weeks, which has us guessing that a lot of people have realised during the lockdown that their home isn’t big enough.
Extending is so much easier than moving, and costs way less to do.
When organised through County, you can have a home extension of pretty much any kind, from a kitchen extension to a home office extension.
It will be a seamless process, with no stress, and we’ll take you through all of the important questions that must be answered prior to the final installation.
Is planning permission required?
It won’t be necessary for a single-storey extension that satisfies the various limits and conditions to be classified as a Permitted Development as it can be built without planning permission.
You can get clarification from your local authority who will be able to give official confirmation as to whether Permitted Development Rights apply, or not.
Further to planning permission, an extension can sometimes also need Building Regulations Approval. Speak to your local building control officer for guidance on this.
What is your budget?
The cost of an extension will very much depend on what you want, and you will need to work out a budget.
Have a look at your finances, and if you need it, ask the installer who’s involved if they offer any funding options to assist with the purchase.
With awareness of a budget, it will be possible to give you some examples of what you can get for your money, with the creation of numerous design concepts.
Will it add plenty of value?
As well as supplying you with extra space, an extension needs to also increase the current valuation of your property by a worthwhile amount.
Several factors will determine how much it adds, including how big or small the extension is, how detailed the design is, where your house is located in the country, and its build-quality.
Because we have fitted so many extensions, we should be able to provide a pretty good estimate of the value it will bring.
On our Extensions page, you will see some of the many extensions we have been responsible for. Use them as inspiration for your own home extension.
