FENSA – what does it mean?
Jan 29, 2019
The secret of success for any business is customer satisfaction. We’ve delivered that for over thirty years; County – The Home Improvers has an exceptional track record for its product quality, installation standards, level of customer service and work practices and that’s the reason why we’ve lasted so long and have received the much coveted FENSA accreditation.
Who are FENSA?
FENSA is an acronym and stands for the Fenestration Self Assessment Scheme. This Competent Person Scheme was established in 2002 by the Glass and Glazing Federation and is the industry Gold Standard for Building Regulations compliance in replacement windows and doors.
FENSA’s primary responsibility is to regulate glazing companies like County – The Home Improvers and monitor their workmanship skills to ensure that they are delivering the standards that customers expect and deserve.
How did we gain our FENSA accreditation?
FENSA has an independent team of assessors and they observed a number of our installations throughout the region to determine whether they met their strict criteria and if we were subsequently worthy of being a FENSA accredited firm.
Once you have earned a FENSA accreditation you then have to prove that you deserve to retain your membership.
FENSA still visit us on a regular basis to check that our standards haven’t dropped at all, but we won’t let that happen – they have the right to withdraw our membership at any time if they feel it necessary.
What is a FENSA certificate?
Any FENSA accredited member will present you with a FENSA certificate at the conclusion of a window / door installation.
This certificate confirms that the work done complies with Building Regulations and satisfies FENSA guidelines. It should be stored safely as you will need to hand it over to anybody that buys your house.
You can order a replacement FENSA certificate via the FENSA website if you lose it. It will cost you £20.
Choosing a FENSA member also entitles you to an Insurance Backed Guarantee. This gives you essential cover for 10 years in the event of the installer going out business to minimise the chances of you being left out of pocket.
County – The Home Improvers is also a registered member of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB). You see just how good we are when visiting any of our showrooms.
